HHA also works closely with local communities and indigenous peoples in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) to raise awareness about the importance of biodiversity conservation and to advocate for the restoration of the Congo Basin’s biodiversity. HHA actively participates in the government’s strategies for revitalizing biodiversity and protecting the diversity of the Tanganyika Lake. By collaborating with the Ministry of Environment, Agriculture, and Livestock, HHA aims to ensure the protection of flora and fauna, which is crucial for the survival of human beings. Additionally, HHA supports the policies implemented by the DRC government in their efforts towards environmental protection and biodiversity conservation.

Important activity of HHA is to support local initiatives in both Burundi and DRC, focusing specifically on communities, including indigenous peoples, for the protection of the environment, mitigation of climate change, and conservation of biodiversity and ecosystems. This support may include providing resources and capacity-building opportunities to these communities, helping them develop and implement sustainable practices, and advocating for their rights and priorities at local, national, and international levels. By partnering with local communities and indigenous peoples, HHA aims to empower them to actively participate in the protection of their natural resources and ensure their sustainable use for present and future generations.
